Here's my issue, bare with me...
I have a Pioneer Premier DEHP680MP that has been running a Rockford Punch 200S (with the gains set too high) for over a year now. I had the radio taken out so I could run a direct RCA to the amp instead of through the Power Acoustik EQ it was running through. After I did this I got really bad engine noise playing through the speakers the Rockford amp was connected to (loud whining, turn signal clicks through the speakers, etc.) After some troubleshooting I connected the RCA's to the rear pre-out (it was previously connected to the front pre-out & also has a third unused sub out) & it worked just fine. I figured something had fried in that one set of pre-outs.
It played fine for about a month when I removed the radio again to connect a Hifonics Brutus amp. After I finished that install I got the same noise through the 6x9's. I switched between front & rear leaving everything else alone & still got the noise.
I then tested a brand-new Pioneer DEHP4900IB & got no engine noise. I figured both pre-outs had went bad on the Premier. I then connected an Eclipse CD2000 & that sounded fine as well. I used that for about 12 hours (2 hours of listening time) & had no problems. I removed (need a detachable face) & installed a different, brand new Pioneer DEHP4900IB...fresh off the truck...& get the noise again both through the front & rear pre-outs.
What could be causing this? Is something on the Rockford frying RCA outputs & if so why did the first Pioneer 4900 & then the Eclipse CD2000 play fine? Could the amp's RCA's be fried & if so, again, why did two radios work fine?

Check your rca, may they are broken, when you flex them the right way they work. Check your ground on the amps, make sure they are good. To checkm if its the deck, ground the shield of the rca's, if noise goes away, you blew the ground off inside the deck.

You have a blown 1/4 amp surface mount fuse on the bottom of your Radio circuit board. Try this, using an old fashioned test light, you know the one with an actual light bulb in it. Ground the alligator clipof the test light. With your system playing, engine running touch the probe of the test light to the outer part of your RCA cable. If this makes a loud pop and then the noise goes away let me know and we can instruct you in getting this problem repaired.

lspker, yes, when I flex a certain RCA on the 4900ib the right way the noise goes away. What do you mean by "shield" though when you say ground the shield of the RCA to test it?
Also, what would cause this to happen on two recievers (4 total sets of pre-outs)? I need to know what to change so it doesn't happen again.

The shield of the RCA is the outer metal part that you can still see when it is plugged into your radio.

What's happening is when you push the deck into place you are bending the rca to the point where the wire inside breaks. You may not have enough clerance behind the deck when is "locked" in place, use 90's on rca or different mounting bracket that moves the deck out further, and of course replace the rca.
