             Iv'e installed two 12" kenwood speakers, a mtx blue thunder pro75x2 amp, a kenwood kdc-519 head unit..  These are hooked up on one channel of the mtx amp. I used the rear preout on the head unit for the subs.  I have four kenwood three way speakers in the factory locations hooked up to a cheap pyramid 240W amp.  These speakers have a 47 MFD capacitor on them to block the bass from them.  I ran all new speaker wire (small stuff, don't know the gauge) to these four speakers.  The pyramid amp is connected to the front preout on the head unit and the four speakers are connected to this amp.  The left side speakers are on the left channel and the right side speakers are one the right channel.. The power (8 gauge) and remote wires are running down the drivers side and the rca's and speaker wires are running down the center of the car.(1994 mustang).  The power wires are seperated in the rear of the car.  Some contact with the rca wires and speaker wires may be happening behind the head unit and dash but, not much.  I am not using any of the factory speaker wire.  None of this is hooked up the the head unit.  I am just using the preouts. 

         I ran a new ground wire from the factory harness to the back of the receiver,  The ground for the amps is an 8 gauge the is connected to clean shinny sheetmetal in the back of the car.  The gain is not maxed out.  Like many other post I have read, I am getting a whining sound through the four speakers that are connected to the pyramid amp when the car accelerates.  Someone previous mentioned on the fourm that the sparkplugs and wires could be causing this.  The battery in the car is a new battery and the alternator is operating in the normal range.  How can I get rid of this whining.

I had the same problem with an older pyramid equalizer and it was a bad ground.  Make sure it is grounded really good no paint all bare metal somewhere on your floorpan

I rechecked all the connections and they were all tight.  Next, I wanted to see if the small (crappy) pyramid amp was any good so i disconnected the speaker wires and rca's and hooked them to the mtx amp.  Sure enough, the whinning stopped.  I guuess when you use crap you get crap.  But anyways, I bought a new amp last night and now im good to go.  Thanks
