I've heard alot of great things from this thing, from the 134.4Db rating to the 23"x13"x13" size, I plan to buy and install one in my wifes new truck as a guinea pig. The only thing I've heard to be negative is the port moving alot of air, and almost sounding "windy"...The $699.99usd price tag is alot for a self amp'd sub too, but considering the alpine pdx amp and the timphany&whise enclosure and the linear array transducer setup, its not crazy expensive...Juat get a best buy employee to get it for ya for right under $400,lol

They reviewed it in Car Audio and Electronics magazine a few months ago...pretty good ratings. Said the unit is more suited to open cabin vehicles

My local shop that I freguent is willing to sell one to me for $400. So the price isn't that bad. But the installer told me that he has had one at hookup fry right away. The amp pretty much went up in smoke. He installed another one the same day in the same vehicle and has had no problems. He mentioned that he thinks it was just a faulty amp. He told me that for a small (HEAVY) enclosure it sounded really loud and clean surprisingly. Maybe I should become the guinea pig.
