I Was Thinkin about purshaing a red top battery for my 01 altima and my car needs 14.4 colts does that come from the battery or alternator??? and i do not intend to leave my car off while playin my music, do i need a red top?

The alternator produces the voltage (14.4 Volts) and your battery stores it at 12 volts.  It wouldn't hurt to get a red top but if your lights are dimming it's not the answer.  A deep cycle battery is really most useful if you plan on listening to music with your car off so if you aren't going to be doing that there's not much of a point.

Have you upgraded your big three???? The battery supplies power once the alternator is "out of breath"...but normally the alternator supplies all power while the engine is running
