I've bought a MRV-F345 and I've noticed that theres a setting on the "input channel selector switch". Setting the switch to "1/2" will send the signal at the inputs of channel 1 and 2, to 3 and 4. Would it be better to run two sets of RCAs, or will one be fine with the switch set at "1/2"? any difference in SQ? My hu is a pioneer deh-p4800mp, it has 2 pre amp outputs,(only need to buy one cable). I will be running to jl xr570s up front, and jl tr570s rear.

One other quick question: I'm upgrading my sub amp and looking at Alpines MRD-M1005 and MRP-M850. Is one better than the other, or is the MRD a 05 model, and the MRP a 06? Looking at buying one of these on ebay. I'd appreciate your opinions.

I went ahead and bought a 4 channel patch cable for the Alpine amp, so thats settled. Now I'm trying to decide weather to buy a Alpine or JL mono amp. The 500/1 looks like a great amp, it's what I need for 2 P38D4s. And from what I've heard JL makes some good clean power. However the alpine amps go higher at 2 ohms, if I want to upgrade my subs someday.

i have had several good experiences with the 500/1 amps by jl-  you would be surprised how loud 500 watts sound when set up just right- was very hard to sit in the back of a rodeo i put 4 pioneer dvc 12's in!!!

Those amps are selling on ebay, like cold beer at a wet t-shirt contest, $250 to $330. Around $550 new, if I buy locally.

You can buy off ebay if you're a risk taker, or you can go to a local dealer and know what youre getting - Not stolen goods.

my friend has an alpine amp powering two p2 8ohm svc and i set it up for him and wasnt overly impressed with the amp. it was fully powering them and it wasnt as loud as they once where with a rockford amp putting half of the power to them. i didnt have the rockford clipping them at all but they still sounded better. i love JL stuff so i would go with the JL!

I had the mrp-f340 and an mrd-m500 in my last truck and it sounded awesome.  if you're going alpine, go with the mrd-m1005.  thats a good amp, or if you have a lot of space, and you can find one, the mrd-m1001

good luck

I ended up getting the JL 500/1. Got it all set up today, and holy crap this hits hard, never thought my RF P38D4s would sound like that. I'll bet it's awsome with a good set of subs. Thanks for all your posts on this matter. I would highly recommend JL amps, if anyone asks me.
