I just run into a problem today with my newly installed speakers.
I have a Sony CDX GT310 mp3/disc player. I have a pair of Alpine Full range speakers in the rear and a set of Alpine components set in the front, Model # SPS-171a. The component speakers have a a 2 way crossover.
I was fine for the first two days after I install it. This morning when I started turn my radio on, there was a loud buzz coming from my front left speakers/tweeter and the buzz stops after 2 seconds. I look at the radio and it says FAILURE. After the loud buzz stops, there is no sound coming from the front left speakers/tweeter. All the other speakers are working fine.

If you have any experience with this problem and have any idea of where to started looking, please post.

Chances are you have a grounded speaker wire.

Aren't the SPS-171a a 2 ohm system? Check that, as I KNOW Alpine make some 2 ohm systems. Those are NOT compatible with head unit amplifiers.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Thanks for the suggestions.
It turned out that the speaker got loose after a few time of shutting the door. The speaker and bracket slid down to the door frame and made contact with both speaker terminals. When I installed it, it was cold outside (like 35 degrees). I rushed the installation and did an half a** job. I went back, took my time, and did a better job this time. It also help that it was a bit warmer this time around.

Thanks for all the help guys.
