I have a 2003 Accord (2.4 Vortec engine) and cannot find a HO alt. I ran additional 4 gauge from stock alt to Optima battery but still need more power. Currently have a Kinetic Power HC600 running in parallel with Optima powering a Phoenix Gold 200.4. Looking at purchasing a Soundstream 40 farad cap in place of Kinetic power. What would be the best setup?

you shouldnt have bad voltage problems with that small of an amp...you might want to meter the ground wire for your amp.

You might be having trouble finding an alt because you listed a honda (forign car) with a chevy (american) motor.

Try the following people for a high output alt.

Powermaster
Irragi Alts
High Output alternators

Also that engine is NOT a Vortec engine...Chevy makes Vortec Engines.

Honda's have VTEC

Caps are usless and a waste of money

The cap will fix nothing. You need to address the alternator first and foremost. I have had really good luck with Alterstart in Texas. They have a better asssortment of alternators for Hondas then I have seen elsewhere.

I was gonna leave that one alone... posted_image

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

A gigantic cap (40 farads?!?) will make your problems much worse rather than better unless you upgrade your alt, as properly suggested above.

lol...pet peeve of mine, like this kid in my welding class says he has a big block chevy engine with vtec in his honda accord coupe with a turbo...I asked him if it really was a turbo and he said well it basically is, I got it off ebay, so basically it was just a cold air intake or those crappy electric superchargers lol

How can you tell if you need more power? Is it your amp/speakers not loud enough? or your car is dying when you play it loud?
