I accidentally touched the positive to the ground terminal while installing a capacitor. Now it only reads 1.5 volts instead of 12. Did i mess it up or can it be recharged?

You just discharged it...all you have to do is recharge it with a lest light

Yea, i figured it out earlier, thanx though. The only other thing is that the top terminals are cross threaded, im trying to figure out a way to re-thread it or sumthin

if they are cross threaded than go to a machine shop and have them use a dye or tap new threads

you should be able to pick up a die at any hardware store,    just bring the cap or the nuts with you to find the correct size.  most caps are 1/4" 20 or 10/32  i believe.   be very careful when rethreading the bolts, if you twist too hard you could rip the studs right out of the cap

What ever you do, DO NOT use it until it is fixed. You risk shorting it again and it possibly exploding.
