add on tweeters or replace whole speaker?

I used to have some boston acoustics 6 1/2's (rally rx67's) in my old truck and they sounded great. In my new truck I decided to go back with bostons and bought the sx95 6x9's and am very dissapointed in their highs. I have the same head unit I had in my old truck but with these it sounds terrible, lows and mids are great but their is no crispness to the highs. I am wondering if I should add on some boston tweeters or replace them with something else all together? I am willing to spend $200 or so (preferably less) and the tweeters are $80 on ebay. I am running a kenwood excelon kdc-x889 hu with a kenwood excelon amp pushing a 10" boston acoustics G5 sub and have boston acoustics 5 1/4's in the back doors.

It's a bad idea to try to fix the sound of a lousy-sounding coaxial speaker by adding another tweeter to the mix.  Replacement to a speaker that you like the sound of is the approach you should take.

Thats what I figured, I really like boston acoustics but with as bad as these sound I am a bit nervous about spending another $200 on the better 6x9's. 

the grilles might be too thick....if you replace the speaker you will have the same problem unless you go with components, or customize the door or panel to use the aftermarket grilles.

When a grille is too thick the first thing it blocks out are the highs.

 what make/model of truck?  could it be the positioning of the speakers making them sound so much less pleasing.  many factory locations are not designed with sound quality as a priority of interest.  It's all preferance, but i think boston acoustic makes great products.
