I would like to know if it's safe to used speaker wire for extension.  I basically used it for head unit extension because of convenient. Is it a fire hazard? Thanks.

lol, oh man. if you're talkin about using it for like power wire to your deck or something i've done it before, i dont think it can hurt, but if your talkin about an amp or something, dont htink about it. if your gonna use it for an extension of some sort, atleast make sure its the same gauge wire

It's fine to use speaker wire just be sure to use the correct gauge for the current draw. You can use the 12 volts Power and Ground Cable Sizes to calculate the correct  gauge https://www.the12volt.com/info/recwirsz.asp
