would be great to know what power you need for your sub, esp what VC configuration. and how many speakers, and what kind. and is this getting added to stock HU or aftermarket one?

OK.  Get an Eclipse EA-4000 for your mains and oh, say an XA-1000 subwoofer amp.  Each available for under $300.

JL 2150 and maybe an A1200 ?

the a2150 is a 2ch amp so he'd only be able to amp his fronts, (or loose fader ability)

the a1200 IMO is not a very powerful amp at all, and it'd be hard pressed to push 2 12s, unless we're talking something incredibly efficient/low power rating...

i'd concur with the eclipse ea4000 recomendation for the 4ch, unless you could find the a JL E4300 (last years model of the A4300, they're on clearance in some places now and might be had for cheap), I found the E4300 a much cleaner amp than the eclipse ea4000, but there is a significant cost difference in them...

sub amp will depend on what subs you're actually gonna get, as much as i hate to say it, I've been actually surprised with JBL's CS3001.1 amp, pretty decent power output, although not the cleanest amp out there, it certainly has great bang for buck power...

this is far too much advice for someone who has given so little thought to their posts

Well this place seems like you guys have the info and I needed to start with a base. Before you can get a good sound I think you need good amps right? I thought Kicker and Kenwood was good and at 40 years old i'm outta touch with what's a good quality amp and I just don't wanna get burned. So now can someone give me a idea of what kind of system can I do for about $1000.00 to add in my chevy impala.

THANKS

Alpine sells complete systems for $999.99. Two different systems actually. Comes with head unit, amps, door/ dash speakers, and sub. Good quality for the price if that's your cup of tea. But would I mention Alpine?
