first time system, volkswagen rabbit

I have 2 alpine type S 12" 4 ohm subs. I also have a alpine mono 650 amp.

How should i wire these bad boys to create the best system.

All advise is helpful.

are they dual voice coil subs are single coil. does the amp have only one terminal set since it is mono or two some mono amps have two alot have one let us know that.   basically if you have one terminal set you can wire in series or parrallel or both in the same setup

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

There is only one speaker output on this amp. The subs are both dual coil.

1ohm or 4 ohms?  I would never go with a 1 ohm load on an amplifier, but that's just me.  Is that amp rated as capable of a 1 ohm impedance load?  And if it is, what is the rated power output at 1 ohm?  Is it much more than the combined speakers are rated?

i'm trying to connect power to my amp. is there any other source for power other than the battery itselfm on a volkswagen rabbit. Also, if there isn't, anyone have any helpful instructions on how to wire from the battery.

You didn't list the year but look under the drivers side dash at the fuse panel. Some VW's have large gauge terminals there and the current rating will be printed there as well. I think the largest is 30a so if you are exceeding that much current (you didn't supply that info either) you must go directly to the battery, which is always reccomended with amplifiers anyhow.

No real "directions" to do that..it comes with experience but on those vehicles there should be a factory grommet (a round rubber seal) near the battry location at the firewall. If you can't find it I know there is at least one by the drivers side firewall. somethines you can use the hood release cable grommet as well...carefully make a small slit in the rubber with a razor knife and push the wire through.

In certain vehicles is may be easier to drill your own hole..especially if using large ga. wire. The rules for that are DO NOT DRILL unless you know whats on the other side and use a grommet so the metal edges do not cut into the insulation. Always Use a fuse as close as possible to the battery to prevent fires and keep the wire away from heat (like exhaust manufolds and turbos) and moving parts such as steering knuckles etc.by using wire ties..cover the wire with some split loom for a pro finish.
