I just bought a 2005 Ram QC and have a problem.  The radio didn't work when I bought it - salesman said that it should be covered under warranty.  It was and the dealership replaced the HU but the front door speakers are not there.  This starts the questions - can I pull the stock HU and check to see if it has the components in the dash?  How would you check to see if there is a spe..... nevermind I just needed to think aboot my question.  If there is resistance between the +/- then there is a speaker there. My other question was how hard is it to put components in the dash of one of these trucks?  It looks like it would take a weekend to get to the stock locations in the dash.  Any help/encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

hmmmm well its really not that hard to replace speakers in that truck.  if i understand correctly then u said that there arent any front speakers. meaning no doors or dash?

you can easily pop off your door panel by removing 2 philips heads and the t30 in the door handle then simply lift up on ur door panel.

as far as the dash speakers im pretty sure it just lifts up and off of the dash

you can always test the wires at the harness by just hooking a 9v battery to the +/- of the speaker wires

Unless it has the "premium" sound system.

Thanks for the replies, but I figured all of it out last night.  (hint:  If you look down into that front trim piece you can clearly see no speakers!) The front panel just lifts up and back to replace them.  I feel like an idiot for even putting this here and then realizing how easy it is.  Sorry to waste your time.

New question - I have bought a pair of MB Quart 269's.  I am looking at putting the mid's in the doors and then putting the tweeters in the dash.  I then got the bright idea to use a pair of Clarion Pro Audio Plates (components) in the dash.  But that would mean either A) custom mounting the MB tweeters in the doors or B) mounting them in the cone of the 269's.  Since I would be "filling" in the upper part of the dash with the Clarion's I thought that mounting them on the 269's would be sufficient.  What do you think?

I don't have the model # of the Clarion's but the instructions have a full signal going to them.  When I had them installed in another truck we used "caps"? (they look like giant resistors) inline with the signal in my dash.  I had a buddy that was an installer help me and he didn't explain what they were.  Do I need use them in the new truck or would they be okay with a full signal?

now thats a tough one. id say just use ur by9s.  adding the tweet over the 69s would be tough and they most likly already have tweets on them..  id say forget the mbs.

Actually the tweeter's for the MB's are made to mount in the center of the cone or in a custom location.  I looked last night and getting the Clarion in the dash is going to be a trick.  I could mount the mid in the dash without the tweeterk but not the whole thing together.  So now I am thinking that I will mount the 6x9's in the doors with the tweeters in the cone (like a typical 2 way speaker) and mount the mids up in the dash.  What do you think?

I recently bought a set of MB Quart 269 components for the front of my Dodge.  I also have a set of Clarion 4x6 Pro Audio plate components.  I thought about mounting the mid driver in the stock location in the front door and mounting the tweeters in the dash location but am worried about the seperation.  The plates complete will not fit in the dash but the mids will.  I thought about mounting the MB tweeters in the cone of the doors and cheating the Clarion mids in the top of the dash off of the passive crossover.  If I do this will I have to do anything special since the crossover will only be seeing 2 ohms resistance?  I am running this off a factory HU with no amp for now.
