Got a JVC KD-SHX900 ('05 model) installed finally.  Regular AM & FM reception surpasses that of other head units I have heard.  However, when I search for HD stations, the unit cannot find them.  The user manual states "It takes a long time for this unit to complete HD-Search."  I let my car sit for an hour searching for stations, but to no avail.  I do live about 25 miles from the metro Cincinnati area, but while searching I was in the metro area.  JVC customer support says they have no idea what constitutes "a long time" but they don't think it should take an hour.

Is this normal?  Has anyone had a similar experience with HD stations?

Look on page 13 in the user manual:  https://books.jvcservice.com/download/945751987/33731.pdf

Well, one OBVIOUS question might be: Are there, in fact, any HD stations in your area?

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

sofakingslow, your link doesn't work!      At any rate, I would certainly get some info from JVC, or your point of purchase. Ahah...I see you have called JVC, great support huh? I would try and return the unit and start over.  Holy jeeeminy, an 850.00 JVC, wow! Get some/any help from where you purchased the unit....too much money to take anyones poor customer service.
