I need to know which wire is the positive wire for my Alpine SPR-17LS Component Set. There are 2 wires, one is clear and one is clear with a black trace. I assumed the Black trace is negative, but my father (whose is an ASE certified tech) told me that the traced wire is usually positive. I checked Alpine's website (the tech section sucks) to no avail. Does anyone know the positive wire.

Thanks for the help

Jacob

I' m going with black stripe as negative.

Either way you won't hurt any thing. Some times flipping phase can help with imaging, particularly if you only flip the phase on one tweeter.

As long as you designate each wire the same way for every speaker, you will be ok.

Example if you use the black trace as the neg for the tweeter, do the same for the woofer and input.  This will ensure that all your speakers are in phase.
