I installed a Panasonic CQ-VD6503U headunit into my 350Z today. The unit works perfectly... except that every fifteen minutes or so it turns itself off. Just like if you pressed the power button. It then doesn't respond to any button commands at all. If you put the car in reverse, the unit turns back on to display the camera but immediately turns off once taken out of reverse. Turning the car off and back on fixes the problem... until the fifteen minutes are up.
This sounds to me like the unit is going into a protection mode, but I'm not sure why. What are your thoughts?

Check for any grounded power wires, which might be shorting it out. You could also test this by running all new power lines from the ign column.
