How would one go about wiring a second battery into a system for a high drain audio system?

should it be located under hood or should it be located in the trunk?

any help would be appreciated.

Location depends on if you have room in the engine bay or if you do not, then you will need to place it in the back of the vehicle. You will also need the use of a multi battery isolator so each battery is charged equally.

If you have a high demand, you need to supply that high demand, the only thing in your car that creates power is your alternator.   Have you thought about that first?

this is actually a question i was planning to ask.  my lights dim and rmps fall every time my basslines drop so i thought and then was advised to install a cap.  after i ordered it though somebody else (who may have just been jealous because i'm getting a cap before him) said i would need to increase the size of my alternator.  now i was already planning to put in a bigger battery when i installed the cap, but would the capacitor be useless if i keep my stock alternator?

The cap will really not do that much for your system because the cap still needs to be charged by the alternator after it discharges. Install a larger alternator and this will be the best bang for your buck.

so does that mean my headlights will still dim when the bass drops or will i constantly have to wait for the cap to recharge during use?

sell that cap...buy some wire and ring terminals.

and upgrade your big three if you haven't.

All of my experiences with caps in my friends cars are horrible...caps are useless...unless you just wanna use one as power distribution to multiple amps
