Hey guys, I'm planning on using the Eclipse CD5000 deck and it has 8v preouts, is there any need to be concerned about that causing problems with any amps on the market today, or do I have to make sure that the amp can handle that high of a voltage input? New territory to me and I have no idea, thanks.

You just have to be careful about setting the gain on the amplifier.  The higher the output voltage, the sooner the amplifier will be driven into clipping on the gain dial.

So, let me make sure I'm understanding this correctly (been so long since I've had to mess with this stuff), the higher preout voltage means the gains won't have to be used as much at the amp, also meaning when i get all this set-up, be a safe bet to start the adjustments with the gains all the way down? Makes sense if I understand this correctly, I need to study up on amp controls again..lol.

That's right.  You should always start with the gain all the way down anyways.  Since the gain is used for input sensitivity, and the input voltage is higher, you won't have to turn the sensitivity (gain) up as much.  Simple.

Here's a great explanation about gain controls: https://www.bcae1.com/gaincon2.htm
