i have 2 kickers and they are rated at 4 ohm but for some reason when i connect the voltmeter it shows 2.5 ohms. it has 2 positives and 2 negartives on the speaker. how do i wire it to make them 4 ohm. right now i just have one positive and one negative connected and it reads 2.5 ohms .. maybe im doing something wrong..lol

You are reading resistance, not impedance.  Impedance is a rounded value that is determined in actual operation.  If you read 2.5 DCR, it is a 4 ohm impedance coil.  Or close to it.  What you do is try to determine, if it's not 4 ohm, what it could be.  Very generally, DCR reading X 1.3 = nom. impedance.  A reading of 2.5 is certainly not a 2 ohm speaker because DCR must always be less than impedance.  4 ohms is the closest association.  The L7 is either 2 ohm DVC or 4 ohm DVC, so 3 ohm is out of the question, too.

As for your Kickers, the question is:  are they DVC 4 ohm or DVC 2 ohm?  A DVC 4 ohm has two 4 ohm coils...  Are you having some issues with the install or are you not sure of what exactly you bought, like what coil configuration?

If you read one voice coil correctly, and you go ahead and read each of the other voice coils and arrive at roughly the same reading, you would wire your subs as you should for a pair of DVC 4 ohm speakers.  See woofer wiring
