Hey guys
First I'll start off by letting you know what equipment I have. I have a JL300/2 amp which I will be powering a single JL 10W6 in a sealed box with.
I also have a PG 475 Titanium 4 channel amp which I plan on running speakers off of. I have a pair of Alpine DDDrive 6.5 2 way comps. I've been told that the passive crossovers for these comps are garbage and that I should cross them over actively with the PG amp. So should I amp the tweeters and woofers individually and use the amp crossovers and ditch the passive crossovers? The amp puts out 75W x4 RMS, and the components are rated for 50W RMS, so I was thinking that crossing them over actively would be too much for them to handle? I could then run my rear speakers off the deck.
The other option is to use the passive crossovers and use 2 channels of the PG amp for the fronts, and then use the other 2 for the rears.
I am very new to this. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I also need info on what frequencies to crossover at.
Thanks in advance
Dan
hey kool, don't run any speakers with deck power, not a good idea, the best thing for a deck to do is spin a disk and send signal to your amps. i am not familer with these speakers but iwould use the passive xovers that came with them and the use you active xovers in the amps to cross out some bass somewhere between 60 and 90 hz. do the same to the back speakers.
