ok so i've searched on here and i couldn't find anything about this.  so this is what i have.  i have a 2002 for zx2.  i have replaced the front door speakers with 5 1/4" sony speakers.  i now have matching 6x9 rear speakers.  BUT the rear speakers in my car are actually 6x8.  i am planning on cutting out what i need to.  i have a lil template they gave me in the box so i know where to cut.  but i wanna know what do you guys suggest i use to cut the excess metal off.  only thing i have right now in mind is a Saw Zaw(sp?)  but thats big and i was wonder if something smaller and easier that you guys know of.  thank you for your help.

Get the right size speakers. It isn't worth hacking up part of your car.

i don't plan on hacking up part of my car.  i love my car and would do the neatest job possible.  and i just remembered about hack saws so i think im just going to go with that possibly and take my time cutting...

cutting with a hand hacksaw isnt going to be very easy or neat. We use an air saw to cut door panels sometimes, it is much easier. Or even a Sawzall.

why dont you want to get the right sized speaks? are you set on these sonys?

yeah well i just like things to match.  like i have a sony stereo then i put sony speakers in my doors...and so i want sonys in the back.  i mean it would just be nicer in my mind that i know they are the same.  and it will look nice to my friends since it all matches.  yeah, but i know hack saw wouldn't all be nice, but thats why i also have a file and grinder/dremmel tool.

Sony also makes 6x8 speakers (they may be labeled 5x7 but those are both the same size) Just an idea since you seem to want them to match.

They used to the red ones are the older line the new ones are all black I believe but they will be under the rear deck anyways so you will not be able to see the color.

well from like the instruction manual it shows only 3 speakers.  2 different circular ones and these 6x9.  and i plan to be cutting out the opening and putting the guard over it.
