Has anyone else seen an increase on the number of sirius antennas going bad?

Funny you mention this, I just got through doing a Sirius install and what do you know, the antenna was bad. In fact the wire was severed right at the base of the antenna. Fortunately the customer had a spare. But it was still a waste of time.

The old one's, both the extremely large ones and the smaller square ones, never had a problem, but these new round ones are just horrible. I don't know if it is moisture getting into the antenna or what.

I just replaced on for a guy with a brand new Peterbuilt. His came wth the truck, I do not know if it was factory installed. He picked it up in Oregon and by the time he got it to the bay area it was dead. Replaced it with a monster cable one.

yep seems like the shop i work for has been doin more and more R&R's of those antennas, i think its somethin to do with it gettin nicer now n ppl gettin more carwashes (at least here in michigan)

I've taken two of these apart and have noticed that the braided part of the cable doesn't have any type of sealant on it before it goes into the ant.

As we all know water in coax will travel like cancer.
