Printer Friendly Forum Posts - replacing pioneer rca ground fuse

Thanks to all the advice on this forum I've determined that I need to replace the ground fuse for the RCA preamp outs on my Premier DEH-860MP; it's a model with the rca's on a pigtail. Could someone give me some direction on how to replace the fuse? Thanks

If you replace the fuse you could have the same problem again. No you will have the same problem again. I am not sure where the fuse is located on the 860 but it is probably on the bottom side of the circuit board. You need to remove the CD mechanism and look on top of the board for a tiny surface mount component very near where the pigtail plugs into it. if you do find something on top of board we need to see if this is the right device. One side of it is connected directly to ground and the other side is connected to the shield of your RCA jacks. If you do not find it on the top of the board you will need to remove the board and follow the shield connections from the plug to the next component down line. Chances are it will be the fuse. Check to make sure the other side of it is connected to ground. And do yourself a favor if it is on the bottom of the board find you an IDE hard drive cable and use one of the conductors to solder on to the Shield connection of the pigtail and run the other end to the top of the board so if or when it happens again, you can just solder the wire to the case of the tuner.

I have the part number for the fuse at work if you need it I will post it Monday evening.

At the moment I have a wire wraped around the rca grounds and screwed to the case, but I understand this is only a band-aid solution.
