I tried....emphasis on "tried", to do a SIMPLE deck install today. Behind the radio is a standard old school grey and black connector. No problem, constant, switched, illumination, ground..... No need for a harness adapter, the stock radio was toast. So I proceed to cutting and popping the speakers. got the fronts rite off the batt. The rears (remember, it's a motor home conversion, if that makes a diff.) NOTHING, not one pop on any of the rear leads. Get down into the pass. kick and find the wire harness plug. Found a spot to pop the rears, thinking I'll run some wire down there and solve the problem... Oh no.....
When I pop them, BOTH rears pop together. Off of 1 set of wires. (common ground?) I have never wired a common ground set up, and hate like heck coming here looking for answers.
All of the info I can find here on the 12volt, or on wiremagic.....about 1/2 of the wire colors match. I feel very stupid, and am ashamed of myself for not knowing what to do. The speaker leads for the rears are in the roof of this motor home....so running new ones is out the ? I cannot find the place where the rear wires come forward and connect to the factory harness.
Go ahead and flame me....but be gentle. I got front's, but no rears. How could the fron't work like normal, and the rears be common ground? (if that truley is the problem) I have NO idea how to solve my problem
sorryabouthelongpost!

P.S. I'm buying a tone generator........ this popping speaks with a 9v is for the birds.

hi,
might the rear speakers also be used for a tv (common ground or even mono output)...switch on the dashboard to select between the radio and tv... when the switch is in the tv position, the rears are in parallel..stereo position, well you know.
just a thought

I'll check that...good call. I won't see the rig till next weekend, I'll let ya know!
