remote turn on for loc?

do i need a remote turn on for both the amp and loc or run one for just one of the two

The amp definetly needs a remote turn on but the loc doesn't unless the instructions say so.

loc's are passive devices and don't require any sort of turn-on

Not necessarily... I have installed MANY line-outs that required a power lead. As one current example, the JLAudio "CleanSweep" is really an LOC, (albeit with signal processing capabilities) and DEFINITELY an active device (meaning it needs a power lead). Rockford also has one... the 3Sixty. Also VERY active, and effectively a LOC, again, with signal processing capabilities...

Blanket statements like that can be dangerous.
