I have a set of focal components and im running my amp into the 6 inchs. I dont have any kind of cross over filtering out the highs?  Should i get somethin gto cut the highs and will that makes it sound better?

AND the amp has a cross over point for the lows that i set to about 140?  where abouts shoudl that be?

What all exactly are you working with here? Model #'s. Didn't the component set come with crossovers? If so, are the crossovers bi-ampable (2 inputs per)?

Someone can give you good advice if we know.

its a focal components set that didnt come with cross overs.. so im running the tweeter just off the deck with a high pass filter and then running my amp directly into the drivers.  i cant remember the model number... im just wondering in general is it bad that this speaker is trying to play the high freq's...

basicly will it harm the loudness and quality of the mids?

yeah, you're going to want to low pass that 6" at the same point the tweeter is high-passed.  You want the mid high-passed at a little lower than 140 unless you have a midbass i think.  Do you have a subwoofer?
