I have installed an Aux2car input adapter along with the vehicle specifiic harness for a 2004 Chevy Venture. I used my multitester to find the continuous power supply and ground and spliced the yellow harness wire to the continuous power supply and the black to the ground. I set the dip switches for to on off on off off off off on. I connected the harness to the adapter interface and to the proper place on the back of the radio. When I turn the key to supply power the word "security" begins blinking in the instrument panel and the radio will not power on. Only the red security LED continues to blink on the radio. As soon as I disconnect the harness from the adapter I am able to power on the radio but plugging the harness back into the adapter causes the radio to shut down. After talking to a support person from the adapter maker Peripheral I followed his suggestion that the unit may be faulty and requested another from DiscountCarAudio. They sent me another and I am still having the same problem. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Your first problem is ordering from discount car audio. I recommend returning it asap and getting it from someone more reliable. I've had bad experiences with them.
I don't know if makes any difference but I should have said DiscountCarStereo. The merchandise was in original PeripheralElectronics packaging and they were nice enough to send me a replacement along with post paid return packaging for the "defective" unit, so unless PeripheralElectronics is low quality I still think the problem is with my situation. Thanks for your input.

I finally got it to work. The problem was with my ground connection, apparently. Because I couldn't find anything metal or grounding screws immediately behind the radio, I had tried splicing into two different wires that gave me 12 v on my multitester but were going into the radio. That was my mistake. I finally found some metal that gave me a 12 v ground connection about foot and a half to the right behind the dash, so I spliced in a lengthening wire and connected there. It worked after that.
