Hello everyone.

I'm looking to purchase an AP1040 amp. I plan on bridging two channels to power a svc subwoofer. My question is whether I would be able to power 4 speakers (front & rear) off the remaining two channels and the drawbacks to doing so.

I'm assuming this would introduce a 2 ohm load on the amp to run the speakers and a 4 ohm load tor the sub. If I assume correct, would this be ok?

Appreciate any feedback.

The main drawback is loss of front/rear fade control but sure, if the amp is 2-ohms stereo stable and you use 4-ohm speakers you could do it.  No biggie.

Thank you. This will definetly help out on cost as well as the space restraints in my truck.

Also, amps have a higher distortion rating at 2ohms.  Although this is typically not a bid deal with a subwoofer, with midrange/tweeters (since they are much more detailed) it very well could amount to a noticable difference.  If you're mainly looking for volume you'll be cool, but if you're a stickler for sound quality it would be better to run all your interior speakers at 4ohms.
