Hey im running 2 of these https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/product/details/0,,2076_310069927_376262748,00.html pioneers which are rated at 400 Watts Nominal power at 4 ohms. At 4 ohms the amp puts out 400 watts RMS.. so thus my 2 speakers in total are receiving 400watts.. could i maybe compensate for this by turning the gain up or something... to make sure im using all 800 watts of there power..

the AMP is an I.C.E Amp rated at 1600watts RMS at 1 Ohm. 800watts RMS at 2 ohms. And 400watts RMS at 4 ohms.

thanks guys.

oh and the subs are 4ohm DVC's.

Turning up the gain won't get you more than 400watts at 4 ohms.  If 400watts is what the amp outputs at 4ohms then 400watts is what the amp outputs at 4ohms.  Your best bet would be to get a bridgeable amp that outputs about 800watts at 4ohms, or get either 2 dual-2ohm- subs, or 2 single-4ohm-subs.  Also, you could wire up just one voice coil from each of the subs you have, thus presenting a 2ohm load to the amp.  Although subwoofer manufacturers typically recommend against this (and, with most manufacturers, it voids your warranty), it has been thoroughly discussed on this site and the general consensus seems to be that, although it's not ideal, it is safe.  The only downside will be that since you're using just one voice coil the power handling for each sub will be reduced.  However, the power handing only suposedly drops by around 20% (not the 50% one might intuitively think).

You could take and run both subs in complete paralell since you stated the amp is rated 1 ohm  for max power what are the rest of the specs of the amp fuse rating wire size rating and so forth, you can run a 1 ohm load rating 4 ohm + 4 ohm= 2 ohm 1 sub  put both the two subs together and 2 ohm + 2 ohm = 1 ohm  and set the amp and stereo combination accoordingly ,  Just a Suggestion

the AMP is an I.C.E Amp rated at 1600watts RMS at 1 Ohm. 800watts RMS at 2 ohms. And 400watts RMS at 4 ohms.

the amp has to places to plug in the subs.. said for easy wiring.. is there no way to make this two ohms..

i could run it at 1 ohm... but then im over powering the speakers by double there RMS rating... wont they blow..

Its very possible, sell the subs and get something that can handle 1600 watts. What make/model amp do you have?

i think ill just buy a new amp rather.. cause 1600 watts in a lil two door corsa will probably kill me..

Guess ill find an amp that puts out 800watts at 4ohms..

Or 800x1 @1 ohm. This would probably be easier on your wallet then the upgrades necessary to accomodate 1600 watts rms.

BarbieBoy, where in SA are you?  You could run it at 1 Ohm and adjust the volume, you won't be getting 1600watts all the time, and also those ICE Amps will never push out that much. The ICE amps are a budget amp that are a little too generous with their ratings.

in johanessburg... what you mean by adjust the volume...

it seems to be doing a good job at the moment atleast ... but no point wasting power...
