Okay guys be gentle...I have installed and wired sub amps correctally in the past, I have just never had to wire an amp to the interior speakers of a car.  I would like to know what to do with the speaker outputs for the head unit.  My setup will have everything going from the head unit to the amp using RCAs.  Do I have to cap them so the head unit's built in amp has no chance of grounding out?  Also where is the best place to tap into the existing speaker wires for the frount speakers. Should I run new speaker wire to the back of the head unit? Use the existing OEM speaker wire? Unfortunately right now I have the stock speakers in

if you are running a component set you will have to rewire regardless...however, if you are just going to power a set of co-axs or factory speakers, you could use the factory wiring if you really wanted to...personally, I never do...if I were to reuse the factory wiring however, I would probably splice into it right before it goes into the door (if thats where the speakers are) or into the dash...I dont think it really matters where you splice into it, just as long as its done properly (butt connector or soldered and heatshrinked) with no chance of contact...personally I would shy away from splicing into the factory wiring because if you sell the car and want your stuff back, it just creates more work and more splices to put everything back to factory...

when I convert from deck power to amp power, I usually crimp butt connectors on to the deck's speaker outputs and leave the other end of the butt connector open...and since the factory wires will not see any power, I usually just leave them after I cable tie them all together...
