I have a 12" Alpine Type R 1500W DVC sub and a Visonik V2618 V18 1,400W 2 channel amp and i wanted to know what the best way to wire the sub would be. My idea was to just run it off of one voice coil since the amp isnt 2 ohm mono stable. what do you guys think?

Amp Specs
2 x 450W Rms @ 2 ohm
2 x 700W Max
1 x 700 RMS @ 4 ohm
2 Ohm Stereo stable (when running 2 channels)
4 Ohm Mono Stable (when running amp in bridged mono mode)

Woofer Specs
1500 watts total output
500 watts RMS
Frequency Response: 23 Hz - 500 Hz
Sensitivity: 87 dB
Dual 4 Ohm Voice Coil Version

If you need more info i can give it to you.

You will only be able to get 'half' power from the amp with the woofer. Either wire both VC's in series to the amp, bridged or one VC to each channel. If you did get a dual 2ohm VC sub instead of this one you would, by loading the amp at 2ohms stereo or 4ohms bridged, only get a increase in sound by 3db's. Unless competing this is unnoticable. The extra 3db gain might help you win a competition, but you won't notice it otherwise.

yea I agree.  I would run the subs in series and then bridge to the amp. It will be clean bass but wont be very loud.
