Nice to see that there are some familiar names still around this place though! Hows everyone doing?

I have been out of this scene for far too long, and now its time for me to start playing around again...my problem is that things seem to have changed so much!

For the past year or so I have been collecting parts to install in a car...until recently I wasnt even sure what car to install them in though...I have finally decided that one of my VW GTi's will be getting some new sound...

I have purchased:

Alpine IVA-D310
MTX 9515
MTX Thunder Axe 5.1s
MTX 942 (x2)
MTX 1501D (mebbe get another, depending if I can find one brand new...)

I essentially decided to start over, and have retired alot of my old gear...for now...

because I have been using MTX for so long (read: almost forever...) I decided I would try this setup out...and the local MTX elite dealer gave me ridiculous discounts, even when I hounded him to track down the older amps...I dont really like the cosmetics of their new line, heh...

now, I went against my classic advice of listening to any of this gear first...I just started buying and ordering...I have heard mixed reviews on everything I bought, but Im going to give it a try myself...

Im wondering if anyone here has any experience with the 9515 woofer...I still havent even decided what I want the sub to do, but Im thinking I would like to port it down to some ridiculously low frequency, and I was hoping someone on here has done this before me and had some input on how well it responds in the basement frequencies...

Im either going to buy another 942 and run a pair on the woofer and the third on my components, or perhaps buy another 1501 if I can find one in brand new condition and pair them up on the pig...

I have alot of room for the woofer, if I need it...I will pull the rear seats if I have to and fiberglass the whole bloody cabin if necessary...

anyone care to offer an opinion on the woofer or any of the gear? Im pretty old school, my last competition setup utilized a Stroker 18 and 2 mmats d1700s, I think, lol...years ago it seems! I dont think Im going to go headhunting with the stereo yet, I just want some bass...

thanx,

BP

Get the Alpine PXA-H701 processer. It will give you much more control of your system plus 4 volt pre amp outputs. Not too familiar with MTX gear so I'll let someone else advise you on that . Welcome back.

Yes, I'm an Alpine dealer. The 872 dual layer DVD nav is the best on the market but the price is hard to swallow. I like, and sell more of the "Blackbird" with the docking port. Don't know how well they work in Canada though, heh.
