I've got a G51044 with GTR tunable PR. Requires only .5 cu'. The only thing I can think of is a H=9.5" x W=9.5" x 9.75" cube, per bostonacoustics.com. If I built this cube, i'd downfire the sub (I used SagCalculator, it's way worthy) and rear fire the PR. Can anyone think of something else? Maybe downfiring both? If I did then the box would have to be too shallow so the sub would have to be inverted -that isn't a prob, it's just that the box would be too high off the 'floor' for my liking (the G5' frame would have to stick out about 8") as I am used to downfiring on 4x4's.

Anything? Anyone ever done an emaculate PR setup? If so, was it worth it? Consider i've only got .5 cu' to work with. -Thanks, Javin

PR's usually aren't a good choice for car audio.  To get a decent tuning, you need a large weight on a loose suspension, and that doesn't bode well in a moving vehicle.  However if you can get a decent alignment out of the space you have and you want to try it,  it's always fun to experiment.

Right now I have the G510" and PR in a 1.8cu' box. The PR had the stage2 weights in it so it was too low (huge box) so I removed all of them and output increased dramatically. I've been conversing with a BA customer service tech and he says i'll get dramatically more output by using the .5cu' box. So that's where I am. I's just wanting to know of any experience or ideas for more output, as in firing direction. Thanks

I've actually done several PR systems in my car, and I was suitably impressed with the results. I liked the Eclipse Ti10 with an Adire PR-15, weighted to 5.2Hz, in 2.2 cubes, the best, except the PR's surround would invert and flap, so that particular system didn't last in the car very long.

I have now recycled that PR for a home sub, mated to an Aura 10... Impressive. I run it off an Adcom GFA565, bridged for about 600 watts, and I love it.

If nothing else, PRs are fun to play with, and I encourage the experimentation, just as I encourage the experimentation with TLs...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
