I have 3 sealed Alpine SWR 1242D subs and was going to use Earthquake phd5000 to puch them, but was told it was crap, and that the kicker zx1000.1 is way better.  I am going for 1000 watts into each sub.  Is this Earthquake good for what I want or is it a junk amp?

And are the refurbs of either amp any good?

You say your looking for 1000 watts into each sub? Then why are you looking at 1000 watt amps if you have 3 subs?   you would need 3000 watts by your expectations.

Look into something along the lines of some high end eclipse amps, or the Kicker KX2500 is the closest to 3000 real watts your gonna get
