amp specs: 40 x 4 at 4ohms 80 x 4 at 2ohms 160 x 2 at 4ohms bridge I have 4 surround speakers rated 60watts each at 4ohms Now my question is how do I wire it up so that I can use the amp to push the surrounds giving it enough watts while matching up the ohms..

Each speakers (+) and (-) goes to its own separate terminal on the amp.
Ex. Left Front speaker gets wired to the Left Front output on the amp, it's really really simple.

Oh I already know that but if you were to do that.. the speakers would be underpowered since that configuration only gives it 40 x 4 at 4ohms and the speakers are 60watts each... I want to wire it somehow where I can get more watts into the speakers.. Thanks for the reply though,,

OK there is only 1 way to accomplish what you want. You need to get a new amp that is rated at 4x60 at 4 ohms.
You really don't need a new amp, just do as AlpineGuy stated. Underpowering your speakers will not hurt a thing.

OK, 40 watts into any given driver will gove you XdB. That X will be based on the efficiency of the driver, as well as the installation. Take that SAME driver, in the SAME installation, and drive it with 80 watts. Do you know what the difference in output will be? 3dB, which is JUST enough to hear. At 60 watts in, you will be realizing about a 1.5dB gain which you WON'T hear. What I am saying here is this: If you run the 40 watts, (that you HAVE) versus the 60 watts (that your speakers can HANDLE) the 60 watt setup will be only 1.5dB louder, and that is not enough to hear.
Don't worry about the amp/power/speaker ratings. Run the 40 watts per channel, set your gains correctly and enjoy.

I won't be able to use the speakers at it's full potential... but I don't think I can hear a difference of a -20 watts hehe.. thanks guys for the help!

Will this apply to my sub situation and amp as well... I have a mono amp that pushes 300 x 1 at 4 ohms and a sub that runs 450watts rms at 4ohms.. Should I get a stronger amp or will this be enough for the sub to produce good bass?

Your sub does not run at 450 watts, that is the maximum power handling of your sub. Your 300 watt amp will be fine for your sub.
