I'm trying to install an Alpine headunit in an 05 Civic.  I hooked up the harness correctly, but I'm not getting any sound.  The power works like it should and when I put a cd in it spins like it should.  For some reason it seems like the speakers are shut off or something.  I tried to hook up the remote, just incase there was a factory amp in the car.  That didn't work either.

Any suggestions?????

it sounds like you may have a bad speaker, or a shorted speaker wire.  did you install new speakers at the same time?   you may have pinched the speaker terminals against metal when mounting the speaker.

you could try disconnecting each speaker one by one to find the problem speaker.

+12V DC Battery(Constant)WHITE/ red  10 Amp Fuse box under hood
Switched AccessoryYellow/red  7.5 Amp Fuse/relay box under dash

Right Front + GREEN/ YELLOW
Right Front - Gray/red
Left Rear + Blue/white
Left Rear - Blue/black
Right Rear + Pink
Right Rear - Blue / YELLOW

Unplug the deck, get a tone generator (9v battery) Test one speaker at a time to make sure you have them connected properly and that the speakers work. Strip the wires of 1 set of wires, use the battery to "pop" the speaker.

Keep the constant, power, switched power, and the ground and dimmer/light wires AWAY from the battery. It's best to identify these and connect them to the deck harness FIRST.

Some Alpine head units have the abolity to turn of the internal amplifier. If you bought the unit used from someone that had amplifiers connected to it they may have turned the internal amp off. Also if it is an AI-Net unit there is a slide switch on the bottom of the unit with 2 positions EQ/DIV and NORM    make sure it is in the NORM position

I haven't installed any speakers.  I'm just trying to put in a new head unit, but for some reason I'm not getting any sound.

I checked the switch under the head unit.  It is already on NORM, I tried to switch it back and forth just to see what would happen, but there were no results.

I did notice that on the head unit display that there are a bunch of icons lit up in the upper right hand corner.  I never noticed them when I had it in my 01 Dakota.  One of the icons is a T and for some reason it has an orange stripe going through it.

Does anybody know what that is all about?

Did you check and see if the internal amplifier is turned off?   What is the model of the unit?

I did check the internal amp and everything looks to be right.  Just incase I'm wrong what should I be looking for?

It's a CDA 9833

Top of page 27.   The manual is not real clear how to do it but if you go through setup there will be a section POWER-IC on or off you need to turn it on.

Instructions for SETUP are on page 25
