amp start up whine

I just put in a Power Acoustik 4 channel amp (OV4-600). I was running my speakers from the head unit until now. When the amp first powers on I get a loud whine through all the speakers.
I am using a 4 gauge (which is way more than this amp calls for) ground wire that is bolted to the chassis so I don't think its a ground issue.
And I don't think it's an RCA issue because it happens even if I unplug all the RCA's from the amp.
Any thoughts?
Oh, and I previously had this amp running in another car just fine.

Does the noise go away after initial startup?

you can run a ground refference wire from your 4 channel to your deck ground to eliminate some interference, also do you have a sub amp too? where is this grounded? should be at the same point the 4 channel is grounded to, use distro blocks. good luck, interesting noises like that are great fun  -------------

Well, interestingly enough, since my deck has a brain thats installed on my amp rack (KVT-815DVD) it is actually grounded to the same place as the brain. The sub amp (T10001) is grounded a couple feet away but also bolted directly to the chassis. Is that close enough? It would require longer ground wires to ground them to the exact same spot. And long ground wires are bad m'kay? Just thought I would let you all know...
I have RCAs that were close, but not so close to suspect to the signal output/power input.
I accidentally bumped the RCAs and the noise briefly when away. For a second I thought that it was my RCA inputs/outputs... then I thought it was my RCA cables.
Well, it was sort of it... the cables were not run along side the power, but there were in a general vicinity that made a difference...
my point is check those RCAs if everything else fails.

lmao thats so wicked hilarious! number one of the top ten reasons not to buy from a manufacturer. :) but that does make sense, i had an older rockford that when powered up hummed like a mustard, was odd it just started doing it one day. always after warranty is out too it seems. -------------

it might be better to just solder some ground wire to the outer ring of the rca's as opposed to doing it directly to your head unit.

Now that is interesting. If I'm not having this problem on my sub amp should I still try that? I guess it can't hurt to try.
