I have a Pioneer DEH-P980BT headunit and I can't for the life of me figure out how to make this thing automatically connect to my Motorola V3m phone. The two will connect if I manually initiate a connection from the phone, and they will connect if I manually initiate a connection from the headunit. They will not connect if I select the "Search $ Connect" function though. The phone is registered to the headunit, and the "Auto Connect" function is turned on. When I initiate the connection manually the BT light will come on, but when it is set to auto connect I get nothing like it's not even trying to connect. I want my blue tooth to connect automatically when I turn the unit on, and this is really starting to get under my skin.

To be honest I'm not very well impressed with whats supposed to be one of Pioneers top of the line units. It's hard to see in the daylight, the CD player skips relatively easily, the iPod interface sucks, and all the problem I'm having with the Blue Tooth. I called Pioneer customer service, and that was a joke.

Yes, the Pioneer Bluetooth is less than impressive. I did one in porsche not too long ago with the same issue. The customer wasn't very happy.

Yes I have the same problem , the unit will not pair automatically with my Motorola V3i. I called pioneer about and they said it was a problem with the phone. I have another phone a Sony-Ericsson that pairs automatictlly.

Is up to the installer to test all wires with a DMM whenever possible.
