I have an Eclipse CD8445 HU. If it is bad, should I look at the Kenwood Excellon series HU?

Only bad thing is that I have an IPC-106 iPod interface and the SIR-ECL1 Sirius Tuner...

That means I would have to replace all that...

I know this might sound like a dumb question, but I am just trying to make sure to do the right thing here.

Try to get that Eclipse fixed first. No Kenwood unit will ever come close to the quality of that Eclipse.

Or if you don't want to fix the Eclipse, send it to me and I will use it for parts. Then as you already have Eclipse accessories, buy a new Eclipse cd player and keep using them. Darn straight that a Driftwood is not going to perform as nice a Eclipse, you would turn it on for the first time and cringe worse than drinking a sour beer.

Try some of the 8/9 series Excelons, you might be surprised.  Eclipse is not what it use to be, and the Kenwood has kept improving.
