I'm trying to find out if my JL 300/2 amp draws power from the head unit when using speaker level input?

My proplem is my head unit only has front and rear speaker level outputs and I want to add a sub.

If I connect my rear output to my rear speakers and to my amp for the sub will the resistance change?

If it does will a crossover solve this change in resistance?

I don't want to draw more than 4 ohms from the rear output on the head unit.

Thanks,

No, that is perfectly acceptable to do, as the input impedance of your amp will be quite high, perhaps on the order of a few kilo-ohms.  The crossover is not necessary, and would not work anyhow.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
