Grounding has nothing to do with why your CD skips. Think about it for about 10 seconds, and realize that when you play your system at a low volume the CD player is not skipping.. right?

So what is causing the CD to skip? What is the difference that you feel in the truck from low volume to a higher volume? That same pounding vibration you are feeling - the CD player is feeling the same thing.

Its skipping because the pounding vibration from the subs is causing either the CD to move, or the laser in the CD player to move, or both.

I bet if you had an Eclipse deck it wont skip posted_image , they apparently tune their laser sled to a really low resonant frequency, something like 20hz, so you wont skip it unless you can hit like 150db at 20hz which would probably be a world record.

Have you back strapped the head unit to make sure it is securely mounted. I have installed pioneers in some really freakin crazy set ups this summer and I assure you no skipping. Its possible you have a bad unit, but again I would make sure its securely mounted. Alpine Guy, would not suggest an Alpineposted_image........

When I first installed my Alpine CDA-9830 (factory power and grounds for car. tiny) along with the lights dimming under heavy volume and when I hit any decent sized bump it skipped, when the bass hit it skipped. I only had 400wrms on 2 10's. When I upgraded my power and ground wires for it (fused 12g stright to and from it) it took car of the problem -except for huge bumps.

Mine did at first only 'cause it didn't have sufficient power. -You ever notice that when the batteries on your portable CD player are going dead, the anti-skip feature doesn't work right, like it skips worse? At that point they seem to play better with the anti-skip off. Less power required at that point. I think it's the same thing with the op's one.
