To install a LOC do you splice the speaker wires to the corresponding wires on the LOC then plug the RCA cables to the LOC then to the amp?

Yep!  Be sure to read the operating manual if one came with your LOC as there may be a gain adjustment you must take care to set properly.

Yes, leave it.  Make sure the soldered connection is well taped as well as any terminal ends that have been disconnected.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Do you need to power the LOC somehow?

Only if the instructions tell you to. Did the instructions tell you to? If they did, then you do, if they didn't, then you don't. You probably won't have to.

There are several types.  Some are powered.  What is the make/model of your LOC?

If it is an active unit with a line driver than yes, you would have to power it and turn it on from your remote signal wire.

Again the owners manual is your friend. What exactly are you doing that you are asking all of these questions. you don't have a line out converter, but you are hooking one up to a non specific car?

No..I just want to learn how to install car audio systems for when I get my own car..I'm 16 and will be getting my car at the end of summer I don't know what car I'm going to get yet..so If I know how to hook up car audio just in general I should be able to do it with any car..all I would need would be a wiring diagram for the car.
