you wont find a 12 volt accessory wire on the factory radio harness, GM uses a data bus system to turn the radio on.  you can either go to the fuse panel or to the ignition harness to get your turn on wire.   or you could purchase a line out converter that has a built in turn on lead.   like this one

data-bus system.  those cars do not have a switched 12v in radio harness.  you have to tap another source.

ignition harness or fuse box or you can but an 80 dollar data bus adapter that will retain your door chime.

when contecting an aftermarket radio to a 2000 impala, will i lose any functions to the car other then the door chime. I've rencently heard that the factory radio controls different aspects of the car other than the radio functions. is this a true statement. is it possiable to remove the factory radio from the impala?

Yes. You can remove the radio but you will have no more door chimes. So if you want an easy way of hooking up your radio and keep your chimes use a peripheral gmco interface
