Got a 2001 Pontiac Grand AM GT with the monsoon system. I have tried every interface I can think of to put in an aftermarket (kenwood) unit. The T harness caused popping(Very Loud!) when you plugged in the Kenwood. Peripheral`s harnesses set off the service engine light. Schosche`s harnesses killed power to the radio. Could use a suggestion or two. Thanks

The monsoon amp in your car takes a speaker level input.  You should be able to just use a standard wire harness to connect your aftermarket radio.  If your factory amplifier has gone bad, Metra makes an amp bypass harness for you, part number 70-2028.  I believe the standard harness is 70-2003, and if you want your door chime to still work, connect an sp-2003.  Good Luck!

I'd gut all the monsoon and replace with aftermarket.
