someone please help im trying to surprise my dad with all new speakers is his 1988 mercedes 560 sl, i have no idea how to get the 4in dash speakers out. any help is greatly appreciated.

I'd suggest you rather try a board such as benzworld.org. I'm almost certain you won't even have to register, just do a search on what you're looking for.

Look for a haynes repair manual at autozone or online, they're really handy for showing you how to rip apart a car.

I believe you'll actually need a small torx bit in a skew driver to get the grilles off. Last I remember, it's just one or two torx screws and the grille comes right off hiding a pair of 4" speakers. Good luck!
