I think I am having problems with my CD8445 on the rear channel.

I am getting engine noise only from that channel from what I can tell.

should I go with a CD5000 series or CD7000 series if I need to replace this one?

Do I really need the Color?

Is there that much of a difference between the 5000 and the 7000?

Also, I really like the display of the Kenwood Excelon has.

do the newer CD5000/7000 series have that?

on the Kenwood I get to select between Artist name on the top line and Title of the song on the second line.

Makes it nice when traveling and listening to Sirius.

I suggest you visit your local dealer and play with the Eclipse head units to see which you like better.  I am not a fan of Kenwood, but if the display is more important to you than the sound, go for what you like!
