I'm looking at getting a cd tuner and speakers for my car a 94 laser to replace the am/fm cassette player.

This is what a local store has that is in my price range.

I think this is the model I saw.

CD tuner
and these speakers to replace the factory ones.
speakers

Would this combo be ok? I'm look for decent sound and for the price those 2 suite how much I want to spend.

That will be a painfully beginner system, but functional.

If you are ABSOLUTELY certain that you won't ever be wanting to upgrade from this point, then that would probably be a pretty good sounding system for the funds.

The big issue that I am seeing is the 1 pair of RCA outputs. If you ever DO decide you want to add amplification for your highs, or possibly add a subwoofer, and especially both, your deck will cripple you in that respect - not enough flexibility.

I'd try to find a deck with at least two pairs of RCA outputs, preferably three - one of them being either a "subwoofer" or a "non-fading" output.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Thank you for replying this is the type of information I wanted to hear.

I will have to just go into a few places and see what exactly they have and think about how much I want to spend more once I know what the places sell.

I guess I would be better off getting a tuner that allows me more options latter so I will have to weigh up the costs and what I might do with it latter on.

We have been having good success with the model 4900ib  (us) from pioneer. 3 pre-outs running 4 volts, direct ipod control, aux input and so far no whiners from this model. It does not have the fish swimming on the display, but the tools need for decent sound are there. But first and formost read the link posted it will get you in the direction in this. My last advice is spend a little more on the cd player first then go into speakers/ a speaker can only sound as good as the signal it gets..

I had looked at the sticky and it has helped my understanding well at least what I took in I best read it a few times.

I'm not sure if I can get the 4900ib here but I think I can get this cd turner it's a bit more than I was looking at spending but I do hate poor quality sound, I will just see what they have today I'm going to try and go look.
Well I hope I make a decent choice, I will just remember what I was going to put into speakers I can just spend on the unit in order to get better quality sound then upgrade from the factory installed speakers to some decent ones down the track.

I think I will just go with the one in my first post I won't be upgrading to anything better for at least a year or more, so by that time I can afford something better and technology would of progressed a bit more.

The now only question now is speakers? the ones in my first post would they provide decent quality? I don't mind spending a bit more on speakers to give me decent sound and seeing as I would just using them for sometime I would prefer something that sounds decent.

I have a Ford Laser KH 1994 model 6x9's would fit fine in the front doors yes?.
The rear speakers seem to sound ok but whatever is in the front now doesn't 1 doesn't seem to work the other is poor quality.
So I would hook the 2 6x9's up in the front and whatever is in the back to yes?
