i have a pair of 6.5"s coaxial MB Quart reference series speakers, these came with the external crossover. believe it or not, they are both shot. all i am getting is the mid. but the tweeters still work fine (if you hook it up seperate).
Q is, how can i fix this situation? can i get myself a filter or something? just to hook up to the tweeter to block out the lows and mids and still be able to play both the mid and tweet.
thanx
Tim

Say WHAT?!?! None of that made sense to me.

Explain again, slowly, what you have done, exactly, and I'll try again...

I think he's saying that the highpass side of the x-overs don't work -he said the tweeters work when connected to an amp straight. I also think he's asking if there's a way to make a simple highpass filter for them.

xTimx -you need to find the stats on these components and find out where the crossover point is. And, if you can, find out what slope the highpass part has.

Oh, also, are you sure they aren't bi-ampable? This means they have a separate input for the tweeter and woofer.

You need to take the crossover apart  remove the circuit board and look for bad solder joints on the bottom of the board.  Look for signs of overheating and dull looking solder, when you find it you will need to apply some more solder.   More Solder, NOT super glue!!!!!!       more solder

What's pretty funny is how some would think super glue will help! -I know I used to...

well you would think that if the whole crossover is soaked, both the mid and tweet would not play but just the mid is playing, on both sets of speakers.

Are you sure these aren't biampable? Meaning, they have separate inputs for mids and tweets?

I'm betting that you overpowered the hi-pass crossover cap at some time or another. If you opened them up, did you notice ANY kind of crystaline stuff, on ANY cap, or were any of the cans swollen at all? If so, that'd indicate a FOR SURE overpower situation, AND it would explain why the mid/woofer section still works.
