is it possible that my Monster Cable 201 XLN cables are touching ground and that is where I am getting my ground loop/engine noise from. It only happens when I put the Eclipse radio back in the console...
I don't know if I should wrap the cables or not... It's kind of tight behind the console.

You do have the tiny little wire (pain in the a.ss to strip!) grounded at the HU side, right? Oh, and the insulation on the XLN201's is already pretty thick.

yes,on the HU side.
I wrapped the connectors anyway. It didn't seem to helpthe noise situation. I think the HU is bad.
I will have to wait for next month to buy a new HU.

have you tried grounding the head unit chassis to the amp chassis??
I have not tried this. the HU is grounded to the chassis in the console as the problem seems like after I mount the HU to the chassis the noise appears.
Currently my HU has ground connected to the ground in the trunk where the amps and the battery are grounded.

Leave the grounds the way they are and just add another 18 gauge ground from the HU chassis the the amp chassis...if that doesn't help then try removing the HU to common ground in the trunk and leave the HU to amp ground
