Has anyone replaced the oem radio with an aftermarket cd player on a 92 bmw 525?
This vehicle has a factory amplifier in the trunk.
I need some feed back on how i can bypass the factory amplifier.
Thanks

Go back to the factory amplifier and unplug it.  Probe the wires to find the ones that go to your speakers.  You can do this by first eliminating the power wires with a multimeter or circuit safe test light, then take your tone generator, or trusty 9 volt battery, and begin popping speakers.  The speaker wires in that car are most likely twisted in pairs, so that should be fairly simple.  Just strip some wire off each pair and touch the leads to the battery and listen for which speakers make a small popping sound.  If you're lucky, the front components will not have separate wires from the amp for the woofer and tweeter.  If this isn't the case, you'll have to replace the front speakers.  Now run speaker wires from your new CD player all the way back to the factory amp, and connect them at the amplifier.  You can still get your +12V Constant, +12V Acc., and Ground from behind the factory deck.  Good Luck!
